Ultra-Curb Guards®

Protect curb inlets from sediment-laden stormwater runoff

Streetside curb inlets can see a lot of stormwater.  So any product designed to filter the water coming into one needs two important features:  (1) the ability to handle large volumes of water and (2) the ability to stay in place when #1 happens.

We designed the Ultra-Curb Guard Plus to withstand the substantial amount of rainwater that curb inlets often receive.  The heavy-duty foam inserts wedge securely into the inlet ensuring the unit stays in place.  The polypropylene material and engineered design of the product allow it to filter large amounts of water without ponding or flooding.

Key Features:
  • Quick and easy installation.
  • Modular design-build to any length.
  • Units can be quickly and easily connected to form longer lengths.
  • Wedge-shaped, heavy-duty foam secures unit in curb inlet.
  • Woven, polypropylene material provides high flow rate — will not cause ponding or flooding.
 Compliance:
  • Helps comply with NPDES, 40 CFR 122.26 (1999) and TMDL requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the flow rate of the Ultra-Curb Guard Plus?
The flow rate, when new is 456 GPM.

There's a lot of different sized curb inlets.  How do I know that the Curb Guard Plus will fit mine?
We offer two lengths for that reason.  Part# 9248 is 36" long and part# 9251 is 48" long.  In addition to the two lengths, the units can also be cut so that you can have a "custom fit".  The foam wedges that are used to keep the unit secured have some give so that they'll fit a range of heights.  If necessary, they are also perforated so that small sections can be cleanly torn off to allow a good fit in smaller inlets.

Does the Ultra-Curb Guard Plus have oil/gas removal capabilities like some of your other stormwater management products?
Our current offering is for removal of sediment, trash, and debris only and does not have a filtering mechanism for oil or other hydrocarbons.

What are the advantages of the Ultra-Curb Guard Plus over similar products?
In order for a product like this to work effectively, it needs to stay in place.  You don't have to look very far to see other filtering products that have been washed away or pushed aside by the rainwater it is supposed to be filtering.  The Curb Guard's foam inserts do an outstanding job of keeping it in place, even in the heaviest storms.

Compared to other solutions (gravel bags, rolls of material, perforated PVC piping, etc.) the Ultra-Curb Guard Plus has a fairly low profile and is less likely to be damaged by street sweepers, traffic, etc.  It's also a much cleaner looking install.

How many can I get on a pallet?  What's the other shipping information I should know?
We can ship up to (30) of the 36" (p/n 9248) or 48" (p/n 9251) units on a single, standard pallet.  The shipping weight per unit for the 36" unit is 6 lbs. (2.72 kg).  The 48" unit is 8 lbs. (3.6 kg).  Freight class is 77.5.
